Chris Woodley (Woods) and Tim Jones (Cardiff) first met at secondary school and soon became friends when they realised that they both played guitar. They would play Oasis tunes together to pass the time through their school days but it was not until a few years later that Woods started to turn to songwriting, writing songs about subjects that most people are too scared to mention; drugs, fights, alcoholism, the ever growing rat race... anything that would stir a reaction from people and it started to work, the interest in

The Abbots started to mount! With a few decent songs under their belts Woods and Cardiff, armed with two acoustic guitars, hit the local pubs and played to whoever would listen. The feedback was good and people took a general interest on what they would do next. But this was just the start of The Abbots! With the help of fellow Birmingham band Burnside they drafted in their drummer (Bob Watkeys) and bassist (Jonny Carr) just to get that step closer to seeing what the songs sounded like with a band behind them.

Realising that this was only a short term plan they brought in Mike Sturgeon on drums with Woods moved to Bass/Vocals & Cardiff on lead guitar. The formation of a three piece was set and gave them that distinct edge and rawness but the line up was still not right! After a few auditions they found new drummer Chris Newman who was the final piece of The Abbots jigsaw. What Woods and Cardiff had in mind from the start was finally there, a three piece outfit with unbelievable power. Since the lineup was established they were able to concentrate on what matters... The Music! From then on they have gone from strength to strength supporting bands such as The View and The Twang to recording their immense debut E.P Fire with producer Matt Terry (The Enemy, Boy Kill Boy).

Now with an ever growing local and national fan base, a signed contract with HTT Records, the huge popularity of the Fire EP and several Live Radio sets coming up all over the country - The Abbots are making huge steps into the music world!
